Totnesian brother and sister Zaccariah and Teya Sheppard continue to have great success on the junior tennis circuit.
Totnes Tennis Club members Zac aged 17 and younger sister Teya, 13 under the guidance of their long- term LTA Coach Tonia Gooderham, who has coached the pair since they were 5, continue to achieve an impressive array of honours throughout the region.
Zac currently holds a range of titles. He is the Under 18 Devon County Champion in both mixed and boys doubles as well as the Under 18 Plymouth Open Champion in mixed and boys doubles. In singles he is the Under 18 Plymouth Champion.
He has been a regular member of the Devon County team since he was ten. Zac has just completed his A levels at KEVICC and hopes to develop his tennis career whilst reading History at the University of York.
As a qualified LTA Coach he is spending the summer in Zambia as part of a voluntary programme developing tennis in Africa.
Younger sister Teya is also a student at KEVICC where she is studying for her GCSEs. She manages to find the time to work hard at her game and notable recent success includes the Under 14 Girls singles county championship, mixed and girls doubles County runner-up and the Under 16 Plymouth Open singles Champion and Under 18 Open mixed doubles champion.
She has represented her County at Under 12 and Under 14 and is currently ranked 2 in the County, 23 in the region and 147 nationally. Teya is regularly seen at the Totnes Tennis Club helping Tonia develop the beginners but her summer will be spent playing tournaments in an attempt to break into the top 100 in the country.
