Your chance to win £2600 at the club!

January 26, 2016 By fp1ttc

2016 is an exciting time for us all – soon we will be able to manage our own Tennis Club, giving us the freedom to create the Club and facilities we want in Totnes. For us, and future generations of tennis lovers.

This has lead us to look at how we generate income, in addition to membership fees and court hire, for a sinking fund to ensure that the existing facilities are not only maintained but also enhanced. For example, our courts (like many of us!!) are in need of a mid-life, face-lift! This is planned in the coming months with necessary repairs to court 1, and a complete clean and repaint to all four courts.

Win/win idea – A Jackpot Club

We have come up with what we feel is a great (and fun!) way to do this, which would not put any strain on you, the members. In fact it will potentially give you more!

A JACKPOT CLUB with a target of 100 members paying only £1 per week, generating £5200 per annum, and the chance of winning cash prizes each month, totaling £2600 per year. Win/win!

How does it work?

Starting at the beginning of the new season, payment of only £1/week will be taken on direct debit and there will be a monthly draw held at the Club, with 50% returned in cash prizes, less nominal expenses.

The draws could take place on Sunday morning Club sessions, with two bigger draws at Christmas and a mid-summer BBQ.

More details will follow in terms of prize structure and payment methods.

Who else could join the 100 Jackpot Club?

Do you know anyone not currently involved in the Tennis Club who would like to join the fun of the monthly Jackpot Club too? There is nothing to stop you signing up wealthy friends and relatives and the more people involved, the more we will have to maintain and enhance our Club in Totnes.

Membership forms and bank payment forms will be available towards the end of February.

We really hope you will embrace this scheme as enthusiastically as we have.

If a contribution of ONLY £1 per week provides the possibility of winning £2600 annually, whilst creating the Club we want, it has to be money well invested.

Sadly, under current austerity with discretionary funding for local sport, there is little likelihood of SHDC (South Hams District Council) providing for us.

Thank you in anticipation of your full support.

We have new floodlights!!!!

June 30, 2015 By fp1ttc

The courts at Borough Park have always had floodlights but they were old, underpowered and as a result rarely used because it was so hard to see the ball! But today, a momentous day for the club, we had new lights installed!!!

After a lot of research into the best options for modern cost-effective lighting, discussions with South Hams District Council, patience and more patience… today the contractors, Sports Lighting, turned up and installed a new lighting system!! This involved replacing the light fittings at the top of the poles with high powered lighting and installing new wiring.

First task was getting the Cherry Picker into the court area without dismantling the fence… tricky but they did it!

Then it was up and up to the top of the poles to begin the complex upgrading.

Now we just need to wait for autumn to come and the nights to draw in and the courts will be buzzing with activity all through the dark winter days!

Huge thanks to Sports Lighting and of course to SHDC for funding the new lights.
